Our Pilgrim Walk for Lent began at the beginning of Lent, from St James the Great Primary School to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. This is the final resting place of St James the Great. It is a total of 1,204 miles = 1938 km. This also includes ‘swimming the channel’ which is a distance of 20.5 miles = 33 km: Year 3 and 4 swam this during their Friday lessons!!
We have given each class a certain amount of miles that they must walk together. It is 1.1km from school to our church, if 4 classes and the adults walk to church and back to school this would be a total of 110km.
